Summary: Once again, we tackle the story of a hessian who lost his head in more ways than one, and haunted the world ever since. But what if we told you that Irving's old story was just hogwash? Well, feel free to not believe that, but that's the angle this film is coming from.

History: Long ago in the town of Wormwood, Calvin Montgomery was a horrible sadist who tortured the town’s youth and decapitated them so that their heads could fuel a pit of dark magic in order to keep him forever young himself. Eventually, the town wizened up, and a noble priest struck him down with a blessed sword. The townsfolk finished the job by hanging him so intensely that his head ripped off. As for the rest of his body, it was thrown into the pit to rot in Hell. However, every Hallows Eve, he is said to rise again to take more heads. Now Wormwood, apparently stuck in time due to Calvin’s restless spirit, has a celebration all about it, but seems to welcome a killing spree when the Calvin returns to claim the lives of some teenage visitors...

Notable Kills: The first kill we see is a metal frisbee-like blade slicing into a guy’s neck, separating it from the rest of the body.

Final Fate: After a long scuffle into the woods, the nearly restored horseman is dragged via truck-powered crossbow hook outside the city limit, giving one of the survivors enough time to stab him with the sword and slice his head off, permanently killing him. With his demise, the souls in the pit are freed, and all of Wormwood fades to dust, now free from the temporal paradox that Calvin had created.

Powers/Abilities: Immortality, and the fact that his mere presence has locked Wormwood in a state of undeath.

Weakness: The blessed sword hurts him, but getting him even a bit off the city limit will cause him to start burning up. Take off his head for guaranteed results.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-The CGI, especially for the pit, is rather cringe-worthy, but the makeup department isn't. While he does get progressively easier to look at, it's still a fleshy head haphazardly placed atop an imposing figure in wicked dark garb. Heads roll in this horseman's wake, and he doesn't need a horse to do so.

Trivia: -The junkyard in this film is legitimately thought to be haunted by the spirit of a worker crushed by metal. The filmmakers knew this, and had a priest bless the place to avoid actual supernatural threats. Little things happened, but nothing too severe.

-The Horseman's summoning constellation is the Hydra, the largest of all constellations with a length of over 100 degrees.

I suppose only the director lost his head over this.
Right after he gets out of this dead-end place.
